Why it’s called Melly’s

Melly is Ethan’s mom. She had a saying. It turned into a company.

Animated Melly, in glasses and a black turtleneck, tosses vegetable scraps into a red compost bin while her son Ethan laughs, at a Miami farmers market at sunset.

People ask who Melly is. She is Ethan’s mom.

The saying

Growing up, Ethan heard one thing from her more than anything else: you finish what you started. Homework, chores, the bike he took apart in the garage. If you start it, you see it through.

The loop

Food is the same. A farm starts it. We eat it. Then most of it gets thrown away, and the story stops in a landfill. Melly’s exists to finish it. Scraps become soil, soil goes back to the farm, and the whole thing starts again.

You finish what you started. That goes for food too.

The face on the bin

That is her on the logo.
