Compost pickup FAQ
The stuff everybody asks.
How does commercial food waste pickup work in Miami?
We drop off 64-gallon lidded bins, train your staff, and pick up on a set schedule. At every pickup we swap your full bin for a clean one, then turn your food scraps into compost for local farms.
What food waste can go in a commercial compost bin?
All food scraps, including fruit, vegetables, meat, bones, dairy, bread, coffee grounds and filters. Food-soiled paper like napkins and paper towels goes in too.
How often do you pick up food scraps?
1 to 3 times a week, never less than weekly. That keeps bins from sitting in the Miami heat. We'll recommend a schedule based on how much food waste you produce.
Will compost bins smell or attract pests in the Miami heat?
Not on the right schedule. Lidded bins, frequent pickups, and a clean bin swapped in every time keep odors and flies down. It's often cleaner than leaving food to sit in a dumpster for days.
How much does commercial composting cost in Miami?
Pricing depends on your volume and how often you need pickup. We start with a free waste audit, then send a quote built around your business.
Who offers commercial composting services in Miami?
Melly's Recycling provides commercial food scrap pickup and composting across Miami-Dade County. We work with restaurants, hotels, apartment buildings, event venues, stadiums, schools, grocery stores and caterers.
What can't go in the compost bin?
No plastic, glass, metal, foil, rubber gloves, or plastics labeled "biodegradable." We'll flag anything that doesn't belong and help your team get it right.
Can composting lower my business's trash bill?
Often, yes. Food is the heaviest thing in most commercial dumpsters. Once it's out, many businesses can shrink their dumpster or cut trash pickups. Your free audit shows where the savings are.
Do I have to sign a long-term contract?
No. Service is month-to-month.
Do you offer composting for restaurants in Miami?
Yes. Restaurants are one of our core customers. We set up bins for your kitchen, train your line staff, and pick up on a schedule that matches your volume.
Do you offer composting for events and festivals in Miami?
Yes. We handle festivals, concerts, games, weddings and conferences with bins, setup and pickup timed around your event.
Do you provide composting for apartment buildings in Miami-Dade?

What happens to my food scraps after pickup?
